Hands On

I bought this home on the Caloosahatchee River in Labelle, Florida in 1996. It was built in 1978 by a retired engineer who designed the home himself. For over 18 years I, and a group of remarkable carpenters, have transformed every space and surface into what you see here. 'Dead eye' Brownlee, Victor 'hot dog' Waddell and his boy, Matt, Manny 'oh,well' Padilla, 'Grouchy' Dave, Arturo 'Goaaaaaal' Lara, Eddie 'the bird' Rojas are some of these men. I owe them. Many of the ideas I built here have found their way into my formal work for others and that is the way it should be, it seems to me.
